Three 2021 Cowboys will get their chance to show out in front of NFL coaches, scouts and brass this spring. Oklahoma State running back Jaylen Warren, safety Kolby Harvell-Peel and linebacker Malcolm Rodriguez have received invites to this year’s NFL Draft Scouting Combine.
Warren quickly established himself as the Cowboys’ RB1 after transferring in from Utah State ahead of 2021. In 14 games, he rushed for 1,216 yards and 11 touchdowns on 256 carries. He also hauled in 25 passes for 225 receiving yards.
His breakout game came against Boise State in Week 3 when he toted the rock 32 times for 218 yards, starting a streak of four straight 100-yard rushing outings. He was named the Big 12’s Offensive Newcomer of the Year and an honorable mention for Offensive Player of the Year.
Harvell-Peel earned a spot on the All-Conference First Team after leading the Cowboys with three interceptions. His 70- total tackles led all OSU defensive backs and ranked third on the team. He also recorded three pass breakups, two sacks and 4.5 tackles for loss.
Harvell-Peel had a nice forced (and returned) fumble in his final college outing, the Cowboys’ Fiesta Bowl win over Notre Dame. Harvell-Peel was voted to the AP All-American Third Team.
Rodriguez leaves some big cleats to fill in the middle of OSU’s defense. He led a dominant Cowboy unit (and the Big 12) with 131 total tackles. That mark ranked sixth nationally. He’s led the Cowboys in tackles for the last four seasons and came in second his sophomore season in 2018. This past season, he also recorded 15 tackles for loss (second on the team), three sacks, 10 QB hurries, five pass breakups and forced four fumbles and recovered one for a score.
Rodriguez was voted to the FWAA and AP All-American Second Team, was an All-Big 12 First-Teamer and named an honorable mention for the league’s Defensive Player of the Year.
The combine will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Indiana March 1-7 and will be televised on the NFL Network.
